ARISTOTLE :ASK EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW

In Labaik Mumtaz Mufti quoted about  ARISTOTLE;  a man was a great fan of  ARISTOTLE, he went to his home, by chance  ARISTOTLE was leaving and was going to a shop,

Man :Is this  ARISTOTLE house?
ARISTOTLE: Yes
Man: is he at home?
ARISTOTLE: no
Man: where he will be?
ARISTOTLE : at that shop

Man went to that shop he saw  ARISTOTLE standing there, he became angry and said

Why you didn't tell me you are  ARISTOTLE at that time, when i asked you.
ARISTOTLE: you didn't ask who i am, whatever you asked, i replied you honestly...................

Qurat-ul-ain (LIGHT OF EYES)

A beautiful description of ambitious guy by Ashfaq Ahmad, a man wants to join Air force, he is love with flying, and at the same time he is in love with a girl, he applied to join air force, gets a call, went for interview, cleared it, now is a time for medical test, and unfortunately doctor tells him that he will lose his eyesight within 6 months,, he will be blind..........

Just imagine feelings of a person, who has one dream to join air force, and wen he cleared interview he was thinking he is just a step away of his destination.

He was broken, and he didn't want to hurt his love, he lied to his girlfriend that he is in love with someone else, and he ran away.......

her girlfriend got married to her cousin, and one day he saw him sitting in a market blind, poor clothes, long hairs....selling bangles

Just imagine feelings of that girl, her husband liked some bangles and ask her to wear them, that guy gave those bangles to that girl and as he touched her hand, he realized who that girl is and left everything and ran away.........

A beautiful and sad love story...............

KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT

A man came to Ashfaq Ahmad and asked, please pray for me, i have no work, i need to get some work, Ashfaq Ahmad asked, what if you get work but no financial return for that work, he said no, i don't want such work, i want a work which pays me, Ashfaq Ahmad said, "SO YOU DON'T WANT WORK, YOU WANT MONEY ACTUALLY."

This is what we do with ourself, we don't know exactly what we want, we pray for something else, and want something else.

IMPORTANCE OF TEACHER

Once Ashfaq Ahmad was in Italy, by mistake he didn't follow a traffic rule, he was fined for it, and as he was busy in Lectureship, he didn't get time to pay his fine, he was called in court.

Judge asked

"What do you do?"
Ashfaq Ahmad replied

"I am a Teacher"

Judge stood up and shouted

"A TEACHER IN A COURT!!!!!!!"

Judge ordered Ashfaq Ahmad

"YOU ARE FREE FROM FINE, YOU CAN GO"

Ashfaq Ahmad said

At that day i realized reason of success of Italy.

Respect of Teacher !!!!!!!!!!!

Shahab Nama

Shahab Nama; a lifestory of Qudrat-Ullah-Shahab

Story starts from his childhood moves towards his crush his Teacher's wife, than moves towards his college life where he met CHANDAWARTI, a lovely story and sad as well; then it moves towards his professional life and intersting part here was when he was living in a HAUNTED HOUSE. How he lived there, what happened, what he did than

Than story moves towards his political problems.
How he took stand in important matters, he resigned 5 times during his service, how he lived in asylum, how his wife died

The important thing here comes is how greedy we are????

When Pakistan came into existance, and government announced that migrated people claim their losses they will be compensated.

Many people came to Qudrat and claimed that we had this and we had that and when they submitted their documents they were all fake.
But one man came to Qudrat and said that i had a machine of compressing flour, Qudrat asked what was its price he said Rs 2000, Qudrat said i am Sorry we are only compensating assets of minimum Rs 5000, man said ok my luck; he was about to leave that Qudrat said but when did you buy that machine, he said about 3 years back, Qudrat replied than now its prices will be 5000,if 3 years ago it was 2000; man said but i have used it for 3 years, after using prices decreases not increases!!!!!!!

As discussed in Alak Nagri Qudrat is a mystery, no one has understood him, but every one says he is not an ordinary man, he is dealing with FORCES BEYOND, we can see his such personality in NINTY K NAAM
where he is communicating with an unseen thing, he is writing letter, putting in a cupboard, and his letter is posted and after 2 hours he recieves his reply in that cupboard, and name written A NINTY YEARS OLD YOUNG FAKIR...........

If you want to know your history read it !!!!!!!!

SHORA SHORI

A CLASSIC WORK DONE BY ASHFAQ AHMAD;

it was a radio program started with name of HASRAT-E-TAMEER, Ashfaq Ahmad started it as a scriptwriter, but than he was given a role of TALQEEN SHAH, this character got such a fame that after an episode in which Talqeen Shah ordered Hidayat to bring already eaten oranges in bulk, Hidayat got shocked and asked why? Talqeen Shah said bring tham and throw them in front of my door, now a days prices of oranges are high,. people will get impress that we can afford them in such huge number.......

Next day of this episode when Ashfaq opened his gate in morning he saw that people have thrown many oranges in front of his gate, and Talqeen Shah character got famous and program name was changed to TALQEEN SHAH

Main Characters of this program were

  1. TALQEEN SHAH (HOME OWNER)
  2. HIDAYAT (SERVANT)
  3. SALMAN (SERVANT)
Talqeen Shah is a character of a man who is double faced, He has captured his nephew's land, he used to publish material regarding take care of other people and stuff like that but in reality he is greedy, he says something else and act something else.

Hidayat is his servant and he is a nice man, always taking care of others

Salman is also his servant but he is also greedy and he is always busy in praising Talqeen Shah

Main purpose of this program is to show us our faces, how we are actually, what we say and what we do....

DOOSRA DARWAZA (2nd DOOR)

Another great contribution by BANO QUDSIA

It is a book containing several stories, covering issues like

  1. Confusion of feelings, don't know what you want
  2. We are stuck between class system, belonging to middle class and pretending to be from upper class, upper class doesnot accept you, and you dont want to show your identity is middle class and you hate lower class
  3. Attraction towards western lifestyle, but you cannot afford problems that arises from westernized lifestyle which is against your culture which is inside your roots
  4. You keep yourself extremely busy that you get away from your self, you lost yourself and when your all activities gets end you realizes that WHERE AM I, WHO AM I??????????
  5. Effect of childhood scenrios on your life when you grows up

Such issues that are RESIDING  INSIDE US are discussed here, AFTER READING IT, EVRY READER WILL FEEL THAT ITS MY STORY!!!!!!!!!!!

HASIL GHAATT

A pyschology of an old lonely man
Problems of old lonely man
Feelings of old lonely man

He went abraod after death of his wife, but he was shocked THEY WERE NOT THE CHILDREN HE KNEW, they were changed, way of walking, talking, dressing, thinking everything was changed.

His grand sons were very much confident.

He felt like a spare chair, table who has been kept a side

A beautiful reflection of PYSCHOLOGY OF OLD PEOPLE written by BANO QUDSIA

MUN CHALEY KA SODA

A journey of Search

A rich business man running three factories, is in search............

He has everything in life but still he is in search........

His Guide in this search is A POST MAN and A SWEEPER; Its worth reading

It basically tells us how we value things, an old man who devoted his 32 years in making one vase, he went to owner of his village to show it, owner's wife saw it and said ok i will put waste things in it, how much will you take, old man got hurt that he devoted 32 years to make it and she will use it for watse things, than he went to other rich man he said ok i will buy it for 200-300 Rupees, he again refused to sell, when he was coming back a car crossed them, a man came out and said i just saw your pass right now while crossing you, i am amazed from your work,.what are you doing here, an Exhibition is arranged tomorrow in PARIS, you should be there, i will arrange your visa and passport, just come with me........

That was a moment when his life was going to change..........

Coming back to that rich man who was in search, he left his factories, cars, all luxuries, and went to a village and lived there, there he found himself, but he faced many hurdles and tests in this search. A thief came to his house, he was finding some place where he can hide from police, he started living with him, and rich man knew that this thief has been sent as his test. he used to tease that rich man in all possible ways but he always behaved polietly and passed this exam.

This book cannot be explained in this way, i cannot tell what is the message like this, when you will read it, you will come to know WHAT EVERYONE OF US ARE SEARCHING IN OURSELF UNCONCIOUSLY..................

SAFAR DAR SAFAR

A beautiful story of a journey towards northern areas, written by Ashfaq Ahmad.
Ashfaq Ahmed and Mumtaz Mufti along their radio station colleagues are travelling to northern areas.
Mumtaz Mufti is elder than all of them, he is 70 years old, and they are walking towrads lake Saif -ul-Malook.

This book is different than all other books about travelling, because describing their outer journey Ashfaq is also explaining inner journey of human emotions and feelings.

It also describes Ashfaq journey to China, to learn Sufisim.

Sufisim is basically "ACCEPT WITHOUT KNOWING", first accept it than do it than you know it.

Emphasis of Sufism is "TAKE CARE OF MANKIND"

This book also tells us how love effects man's personality, when Ashfaq was in Italy, and he met a guy who was in love with someone, and all charming evenings of Rome, all beautiful girls around him, amazing buildings, views cannot make that guy happy.
When you are broken from inside, no matter how much beautiful views are surrounding you, you cannot be happy.

It tells us how man has become slave of TIME; a young girl fell in love with an old man, and than she suddenly met a guy of her own age group, she sacrifices her love to marry that guy, justy because that old man has LESS TIME..................

It tells us what happens when you achieve ALL BLESSINGS but one moment distroys all of them. A man from a small village, gets scholorship, went for higher studies, became a famous doctor, marry daughter of rich business man, got a valuable car, home, everything, than they were blessed with a son, life was full of blessings, suddenly cousin of that girl came from abroad to meet her, and than the old memories of that cousin distroys all blessings...........................

This book tells us how such things; memories, time, feelings, emotions have made man a slave, you cannot get rid of them........................

Read IT !!!!!!!!!

Alakh Nagri

Alakh Nagri is part 2 of Alipur Ka Ailee

Alipur Ka Ailee ends on migration, AlakNagri starts from there; Mumtaz Mufti is migrating to Pakistan and he reached safely, You will find several books on Indo Pak partition but the way Mumtaz Mufti wrote it that reader will feel that he is not reading it, infact he is also present there and experiencing all this.

I would say that it is the best book to describe our history, it describes scenarios of migration and camps in extremely impressive way, and the most interesting part is Allocation of houses, how materialistic and greedy we are that we cannot feel the pain of our own brothers and sisters that how they are migrating, what problems they are facing, and what we are doing here, showing fake documents to prove we are migrated...........

After covering migration, novel went to camps arranged for migrated people, there he met Ashfaq Ahmed, and than the story starts that how they became friends, what is personality of Ashfaq Ahmed, how Mumtaz Mufti saw his different personalities, in gatherings Ashfaq Ahmed is energetic, but at home he is lonely and quiet, than what is going inside him, how he is hiding his feelings, his emotions, his sadness, reason of sadness etc, than how he met Bano Qudsia.

The touching point here is expression of feelings and Love; a love of 9 year old Ashfaq Ahmed with her cousin, and when Mumtaz laughed that 9 year old is not age of love, Ashfaq said " 9 YEAR OLD IS EXACT AGE OF LOVE, AFTER THIS YOU WILL ONLY CLOSE DOOR"

Zoobi an artist who is not that much rich initialy and used to drink, Mumtaz asked from where you mange to get this, A REPLY THAT SHOWS VERY CLOSE CONNECTION WITH GOD, ZOOBI POINTED HIS FINGER ABOVE AND SAID HE USED TO GIVE ME, Mumtaz said but he does not allow this how can he give, Zoobi said I ASK HIM LIKE A CRYING CHILD THAN HE GIVES ME

Ahmed Bashir's story is also beautifully written how he was stuck in mumbai; how he came to Pakistan,w hat happened in train, what he did after coming Pakistan, how enthusiastic he was fro film making, Qudrat sent him for Film making course on scholarship, how he made film, what happened then.

Than novel moves to Mumtaz Mufti professional problems, what are the problems he is facing, what are the reasons behind them, how he met Qudrat Ullah Shahab, how Qudrat helped him, and how they came closer.

Beauty of novel is the theme of it, that human mind in limited, we can see limited things we cannot see what is behind wall, similarly we cannot think beyond certain limited. we cannot understand certain things which are beyond human mind. There are many worlds in this universe, we are doing things here, but they are decided in some other world, what is the purpose of my birth, it is decided somewhere else and things move accordingly, Mumtaz Mufti had to perform certain duties in Pindi, that is why he got problems in his job and was transfer to Pindi. Qudrat was on certain duty from FORCES BEYOND. If you read SHAHAB NAMA aand you reading it from first chapter and when you will reach at NINTY K NAAM, you will get confused that what it is??? The answer lies here in ALAKH NAGRI, and the answer is FORCES BEYOND.

The beautiful description of limitations of human body is described by Qudrat; when he was busy in prayers and got heart attack, Mumtaz Mufti was with him and he asked what was the reason of this sudden heart attack and BEAUTIFUL REPLY OF QUDRAT " WHEN YOU PUT MORE WATER IN A GLASS,THAT GLASS GETS FILLED AND YOU KEEP ON POURING WATER, WHAT WILL HAPPEN THAN???"

Two beautiful characters of this novel are MISS ATTIYA, a women who can judge future, and Ghaffor Sahab, who is also close to Allah and can judge future.

The other impressive thing here is that Qudrat has a believe that when you are trying to be pure and to be in the right path, evil forces attacks you, which can be in any form, may be in form of women; which Qudrat used to say BATS; they are bats who attacks you........

Two heart touching lines are i felt are

  • Getting angry on any one else mistake means you ae giving punsighment to yourself for other's mistake

  • Mumtaz visited homeopathic doctor who was very famous for his expertise but he himself was having several health issues, Mumtaz asked Qudrat "isn't is amazing that a famous doctor cannot treat himself; and Qudrat said IT IS OBVIOUS THAT HE WILL HAVE HEALTH ISSUES, SO THAT HE WILL NOT FORGET THAT HE IS NOT WHO IS GIVING HEALTH TO PATIENTS, HEALTH IS NOT IN HIS HANDS"

I would say that this book is a complete history, message for life, a visionary book, to make you understand whatever happens, happens for good, and everything is preplanned..........

ALIPUR KA AILEE

Alipur Ka Ailee is a great contribution in Urdu Literature

It is a real life story of Mumtaz Mufti

The reason behind this novel was that some of the people claim that Urdu literature is neat and clean and it is only property of Urdu speaking people.
Mumtaz Mufti wrote Alipur a Ailee in opposition of this claim.

I have read this novel about 2-3 months back but still i would say that its all characters Ali Ahmad, Hajra, Saffia, Shameem, Shahzad, Ailee, Safdar, Jamil Saadi, Munsar and all other characters are fresh in mind.

Initial part of novel describe Ailee's home, his mother, father, grand mother, sister.Important point here is that how his home environment and behavior of people around him effects Ailee's personality.

When he observes that his mother has become servant in her own home and his status in his home is son of a servant, how it creates aggression in him. when he observes his father activities with other women he feels that when he will pass matriculation he will be a grown up man and than he will stop all this, but when he did his matriculation he felt that he is the same Ailee, nothing has changed.

All of such observations and situations created lack of confidence and fear in him, but with passage of time reader will observe different personalities of Ailee.

Feeling of love is very beautifully described in this novel.

His friend Shareef (Husband of Shahzad) is a loser in love and he used to stare at roof all day and used top say AILEE DO LOVE; JUST DO IT; and Ailee used to think with whom he should do love and than whenever he looks any girl especially a girl of fair complexion (He likes fair complexion) he used to think should i do love with her?

Special part of this novel is Ailee's attraction towards Shahzad and Saadi, the confusion of feelings for both girls is beautifully described.

Basically you can divide this novel in 3 main parts

  1. Childhood
  2. College life
  3. Professional life
Childhood as described above describes that environment in which he grows up
In his college life, when he joined college after matriculation, his depressed personality, fear and lack of confidence can be seen; as he got afraid from hostel guys and cam back to his grand mother.
But in Nao Ghar you will see different personality of Ailee; who attracts Saad's heart who is a girl of very fair complexion, and she is a target of Ailee's friend who is using Ailee as a communicator but Ailee won her heart.
Than reader will see very confident personality of Ailee in his professional life where he took stand against management when he saw injustice done with his colleague.
And also his confidence can be observed when he resigned from his job when his father realized him that he got job only because of his references otherwise he can not do any job; and Ailee resigned to show that he can do job on his own, and than HE DID.

The sad part of novel is when Shahzad died. This love story will really bring tears in your eyes.

This novel is like a painting in which all colors bring beauty, none of the color can be ignored.
One color of this novel is also a relationship of Ailee and Allah.

It is a great contribution in urdu literature. MUST READ IT !!!

Next will be Alakh Nagri which is actually part 2 of Ali pur ka Ailee.

LABAIK

LABAIK is a novel based on Mumtaz Mufti pilgrimage, he went with Qudrat-ullah-Shahab and his wife Dr. Iffat.

The main purpose to writing this novel was to give an understanding that think who Allah is?? When you visit his home, than think that you are a guest here, and talk to Allah like you are talking to your friend and you are at your friend's home. Dont think that you are at a dry cleaner's shop to wash your sins, or you are at a book office to book a plot at paradise. Come to Allah's home for Allah's sake.

Talk to Allah as you are talking to your friend. Here is a point for elders as well, when they try to give negative image of Allah to their children, when kid is not finishing his meal mom says finish it otheriwse God will be angry, he will throw you in hell. At this point i remember an ideal example from Ashfaq Ahmed

" A baby elephant is brought to zoo and is chained, now he tries to break the chain to run away but as he is a baby he can't do it, still he tries again and again and finally he gets a result that this chain is so strong that i can't break it, he grows up with this result and never tries again, but in reality when he grows up he is so strong that he can break that chain in one attempt."

So; cominng to the point, many children grows up with negative image of Allah, that he gets angry on everything and he has a hell where he used to throw people. and as a result they never try to get close to Allah as they are afraid of him.

But if you read ALI PUR KA AILLE there is a heart touching line

Ailee : Do you know Allah
Old man : Little bit
Ailee: How is he?
Old man : He is very sweet
Ailee: I think he is extremly strict
Old man: (laughing) than how we are so disobedient, if he so strict

So; in Labaik he is trying to tell us that get close to Allah, like he is your friend, and dont think he is living in only four walls of Kaaba, when people were leaving they were crying like they are leaving everything here and are going empty hands and Mumtaz Mufti was thinking that why they don't think that when they were coming here Allah was with them, when they are leaving, Allah is with them, Allah is not bound in these four walls.

Other main point is that believe that Allah loves you and he always do what is better for you. believe what he do is better and what he does not do is his HIKMAT.

When Mumtaz Mufti was coming to perform pilgrimage many reletives asked him that pray fo my this problem etc; so he wrote all those prayers in a diary and brought that diary along him.
when he told Qudrat-Ullah-Shahab about that diary. Qudrat said "Be careful, it is a place where all of prayers get approved" Mumtaz Mufti Laughed and said "What is matter of being careful?"
Qudrat said " There was director of a ministry he was suffering from fever he got treatment from best doctors but couldn't get rid of fever, in the end he went to a reletive who was coming to pilgrimage and asked to pray for him in this place, and from his prayer he got rid of fever, but after 1 year he got a problem with his neck and shoulder bones, he gain went to doctor and doctor said The only cure for this is that you get a fever for few days, and now he is not getting fever, because prayer words were oh God he is in such pain please give him rid from this terrible fever and he never gets fever again." so becareful of your prayer words here.

The most beautiful image of his writing in Labaik was that Allah is sitting on roof of Kaaba and watching all of people and he is sad when he relaizes some of them are here to wash their sins, some are here to get booking of plot in paradise and Allah while sitting on roof is thinking no one here comes to meet me, and Mumtaz Mufti gets close to kaaba and says hey; look here i am here only for you.

Other main point is how materialistic we are that no place can change us. when people land on Saudi Arab they all are worried for their luggage,. no one has a feeling that we are standing on some holy land.
Than when Mumtaz looked in their markets he was surprised that people are busy in shopping and no one is realizing that KAABA is waiting for them...........
When he asked about this matter from Qudrat, his reply is a classic reply

"Remember where there is chances of becoming pure, there is more evil; this is a holy land, every one has a dream to come here, that is why evil is more here, you can say it is a land where it is fight of evil and chances to become pure" and Mumtaz Mufti looked up and he got an imagination that Iblees is sitting up on the market and laughing on his success".

The remaining novel shows personality of Qudrat Ullah Shahab, which i will discuss when i will start ALLAHK NAGRI, because it tells us how Qudrat and Mumtaz met.

MY IDEAL

Purpose of creating this blog is to revive urdu literature and specially writings of my ideal

  1. Ashfaq Ahmad
  2. Bano Qudsia
  3. Qudrat-ullah-Shahab
  4. Mumtaz Mufti

In my point of view any writing can only impress reader if reader knows who is writing this, what is his personality and why he wrote this.

And these four people are linked to each other, if you just read Shahab Nama you will NOT understand Qudrat-ullah-Shahab,you will just get his 50% personality , to understand Qudrat-ullah-Shahb you have to read Mumtaz Mufti ALLAHK NAGRI, and to understand ALLAH NAGRI you have to read ALI PUR KA AILEE first.

So; i will write their book sumamries along why they wrote this book; so reader must know the purpose of writing.

And why i said that they are my ideal??? because they are the people who tought me how to live, who is ALLAH, and they made me connected to ALLAH.

So; i hope by reading this blog they will also connect you with God.
